I wanted this piece to have a more simplistic nature. I wanted the silhouette of the sword to be instantly recognisable, so that the viewers’ curiosity isn’t what draws them further in, but instead it is the legends that they know to be true that draws them in, a familiarity with this artwork.
Meticulously hand-drawn with fine pens and paintbrushes, this artwork not only captures that infamous scene of the Sword in the Stone but also that intangible magic that can be felt every time someone utters the name of the King of the Britons.
