Cosy Cottage, Irish Blessing, Original Drawing

£780.00

31 × 38.6cm or 12.2 × 15.1 inches | “Home is Where the Hearth is” - pen and ink on cartridge paper.

Inspired by our homes and the cosy corners we retreat to. This piece is my ode to the Greek Goddess Hestia, the goddess of hearth and home.

Meticulously hand-drawn with fine pens and paintbrushes, I wanted this piece to capture the overarching feel of home. The idea of a seat by the fire is not a new one, and I wanted to capture the modernised version of what so many of our ancestors did: gather around the fire.

The composition of this piece quietly invites the viewer to take a closer look, without the viewer stepping too far into the scene, the barrier of a patchwork blanket keeps you from stepping too close into the work, echoing the idea that homes are deeply personal and you should always be invited in.
