Inspired by the elusive Unicorn, a symbol of innocence and a classic creature from fantasy, I wanted this piece to feel light and airy, and so minimised the blocks of black ink that are usually found in my work.
By keeping these blocks of ink in the background, I wanted to allude to a brewing storm upon the horizon, one that, as the viewer, you are aware of, but alas, the unicorn is not.
Meticulously hand-drawn with fine pens and paintbrushes, I wanted this piece to feel open, to have the trees encouching into the scene in the background rather than the foreground, for you to feel part of this scene rather than simply an onlooker, to feel as if you share the same space as the unicorn.
Measuring 21 × 26 cm (artwork is 14.8 × 21cm), this original inked artwork is a one-of-a-kind piece housed in a black frame. Signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a folklore story card that tells the tale of this piece.
